Remodelers Advantage Coaching and Consulting...
When you have a question or face a new business challenges, you don't have to "go it alone." Through Remodelers Advantage, you can connect with coaches and consultants with the expertise to help you make the right moves. No more guessing, no more experimenting: you build decades of real-world experience into your business, instantly.
Plus, the time you spend with our experts makes you more of an expert. That's because our coaches and consultants will not only help you solve your problem, they'll make you a part of the problem-solving process so that you can apply what you've learned to challenges that crop up down the road. Strengthening your skills as a business owner is a very different approach from consultants who try to make you dependent on their skills so they can sell you additional services.

Remodelers Advantage coaches and consultants view your company as your tool for personal success.
Because our coaches and consultants have worked with so many remodeling firms – most often including their own -- they know that your company is unique and that there is no single "right" way to achieve success. That's why they won't dictate what to do or give you one-size-fits-all answers. Instead, they come in, understand what it is you want to achieve and then make the starting point for creating the solution that's smartest for your business and for you.
One-on-one collaboration with remodeling business experts. Remodelers Advantage consultants work directly with you and your key people to solve specific problems and meet specific challenges that arise in your business. They can consult with you by phone or work with you onsite in your own office. Our coaches can play a broader role, working with you step-by-step to achieve overall business improvement as they:
- Assess where you are now: how you work, profitability, production efficiency, marketing materials and results, sales processes, customer service and feedback, etc.
- Identify your personal goals and translate them into business goals
- Set priorities and identify highest-impact actions
- Develop feedback loops
- Set up internal communication systems
- Follow up: accountability, bi-monthly or monthly phone consulting, etc.
You realize immediate benefits from working with the best people — and tools — in the remodeling business. Our coaches and consultants draw on years of real-world experience. In addition, they use proven analytic and information-gathering tools — many of which are available exclusively through Remodelers Advantage. Just a few of these tools include:
- The Strategic Remodeling Business Analysis System™
- Remodelers Advantage Company Focus Forms
- Personality and Behavior Profiles for optimizing communications and motivating — and achieving — higher performance
What to Expect
Each situation is different, but onsite consulting typically includes having the consultant spend a day or a day and a half with the owner and management team. This is usually followed by a thorough report from the consultant. On site consulting offers incredible value because the consultant can see, hear and feel exactly what's going on in your company. He or she will meet with your team members to hear their inside viewpoints on the company's strengths and weaknesses. From this in-depth program, you'll have a customized action plan to keep you and your team on track to reach greater success. Your investment for an on-site consultations will be between forty-nine hundred and five thousand dollars, depending on the individual consultant.
Telephone consulting and coaching is another great alternative. This provides ongoing help in staying focused and working on the most important issues. Hourly consulting fees range from two-hundred to three-hundred dollars per hour, depending on the individual consultant.

Paul Winans
Paul Winans, CR is a recovering carpenter who started a business because demand for his services grew, not because he really wanted to be a business owner. However, he became the business person and salesman that the company needed by constantly seeking help from business consultants and sales training experts. Paul ran that business with his wife, Nina, for 29 years before they sold it in 2007. Their systems-oriented approach, with manuals for every position which were used as part of a continuous training program, contributed greatly to the company’s success and their ability to be away from the day-to-day running of the business for cumulatively up to four months each year!
Paul is a good listener who has felt many of the typical pains of a remodeling company owner.
He is excellent at getting to the essence of what he’s heard and helping his clients look at their situations in new ways, providing suggestions based on his real life experiences. Paul’s background and long-time involvement in the remodeling industry nationwide give him the ability to provide tried and true suggestions and tips on how to handle a challenge.
Paul takes a highly interactive and very results-oriented approach when working with clients. He’ll ask a lot of questions, trying to find out what is going on, and use the resulting information as the basis for offering suggestions that the client can choose from. His clients are motivated and energized after each session!
If you are a remodeling company owner struggling with work/life balance, personal goal setting as the basis for meaningful business planning, how to change and grow so your company can, working with a spouse or partner, or being the leader that your business needs, Paul is here to help you!

Jim Strite Jim Strite has been involved in remodeling network groups for more than 20 years and started facilitating groups for Remodelers advantage in 2001. He is a strong believer in open-book management and used it for 35 years to grow his Boise, Idaho-based Strite Design + Build into a consistently profitable business. Jim has recently sold Strite Design+Build to his team.
He believes remodelers are doing their best given the current circumstances, and that mistakes are only learning opportunities and that everyone has tremendous potential to excel. He believes employees want to be understood, accepted, taught and want to learn— an approach that enabled him to develop employees who were able to run the business without his daily presence and to eventually purchase the company from him.
He believes learning is a life long journey. He worked for his undergraduate degree, Masters Degree, and secondary and junior college teaching credentials. He taught one year of high school and two years of college and continues today to take college classes and read extensively. His approach to consulting is not to advise or direct, but to ask questions and provide resources in order to guide others in discovering their own answers.
